This is a very talented 8-year-old boy called Jonny Mizzone playing the banjo like a pro. Jonny and his brothers are part of a bluegrass band called ‘Sleepy Man’. At just 8 years old, Jonny showcases his brilliant talents on the banjo.
Sleepy Man is a band of brothers from the USA, New Jersey. They’re based out of Lebanon Township where they began making Blue Grass music together when they were very young. The band was known as the “Sleepy Man Banjo Boys” before late 2014, after which they changed their name to “Sleepy Man”.
The band consists of three brothers called Jonny, Robbie, and Tommy Mizzone (in the same order they play; Banjo, Violin, Guitar). The bass player for the band is the brother’s lifelong friend, Josh Thomas. They’re simply outstanding musicians with a real passion for the genre they perform. Some of their early videos when Jonny was only 8-years-old, gained millions of views on YouTube which propelled their music career to where it is today.
In October 2011, the band released their debut album called “America’s Music”. One year later they released their second CD called “The Farthest Horizon” which were both instrumentals. Their 2014 single “Run” is the first track to feature a vocal which was performed by Robbie. They now have multiple songs with vocals and continue to release instrumentals as well.
The group have been recognised by prestigious music awards including the 14th Annual Independent Music Awards in 2015. They won awards in the Instrumental and Americana categories for their songs, “Wild Flower” and “Flesh & Bones”.
