Pink created an adorable viral moment when she stopped her live show mid-song to comfort a crying little girl. The pop star was in the middle of singing an acoustic rendition of her hit “Who Knew” when she cut the performance short after seeing a child in distress. She asked the audience members “Is everything OK right here, is this little girl alright? Why is she crying?”
When the penny dropped, Pink continued, “‘Cause there was a fight? Y’all are fighting around a little girl?” The audience then booed the combatants, and Pink addressed the girl, saying, “Honey, do you want this frog and this Rice Krispie treat, c’mon, you know you want a Rice Krispie treat.” She then told the girl she looked “beautiful, all in pink.” The moment went viral on YouTube, attracting 10 million views.
The girl was hesitant to approach Pink, and the pop star said that was OK and handed the toy frog and rice crispy to another audience member to pass onto the girl. Pink then thanked the girl for coming and chided the women who were fighting, saying, “Cut it out, y’all, you’re grown ass women.” The audience loved this, giving Pink a big cheer, and then she resumed playing “Who Knew” from the top.
Fans online gave major props to Pink for looking out for her fans, saying, “Pink probably turned an unpleasant experience into one of the best moments of that girl’s life that she will cherish forever” and “Pink is just too awesome. I love how down to earth she is. If only more artists were more like her.” Another popular Pink video featured her singing a duet of “Who Knew” with the one and only Kelly Clarkson, which you can watch below.
Pink performed the duet during an appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show, and she also gave some insight into the origin of “Who Knew” before starting the song. Pink said that she “lost several friends, unfortunately, to overdose, and the second one was very, very, very close to me, and I loved him very much.”
She continued, saying “But the thing that I love about the song now, after all these years, is that I never get tired of performing it, and it’s taken on so many different meanings over the years. It was about my grandmother at one point. It was about my dog. I’ve lost people, so it’s always sort of fresh in my heart.”
