Sisters Mimi and Josefin Vogler were only sixteen and fourteen when they auditioned for The Voice Kids Germany. The sisters, who had formed a singing duo the year before, took to the stage to perform a cover of ‘Creep’ by Radiohead. They stunned listeners with their haunting arrangement, mature vocals, and impressive harmonies. Their performance went viral online, and they convinced all of the judges to turn their chairs. The girls decided to team up with country singers, The Hossboss.
The sisters continued to impress throughout the competition, covering ‘Sign of The Times’ by Harry Styles and repeating their iconic performance of ‘Creep’. After getting through the battles and sing-offs in the competition, and continually impressing the judges with their singing talent, they made it all the way to the final. There, they performed ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ by Sinead O’Connor. The simple and moving performance was enough for the girls to become the winners of the competition.
After their win, the girls went by the performance name Mimi & Josy. They recorded a song with their mentors from the show, The Hossboss, called ‘Little Help,’ which reached number 32 on the Swiss Charts. The young singers continued to release music, compose their own songs, appear at events, and even returned to The Voice Kids as backstage presenters. When the pandemic struck only a year after their win, they took the opportunity to hunker down and work on their craft.
Now aged 21 and 19, Mimi and Josefin have matured, and so has their sound. Emerging from their development in lockdown, they decided to rebrand themselves as HAVET, with a more grown-up direction for their future musical endeavors. The duo released a number of singles in 2022, the most popular being ‘Mama’s Lullaby’. With an atmospheric video featuring the girls under blue and red lighting to accompany the introspective song, it is clear the pair have taken a shift in their creative endeavors.
For many, it will be strange to watch the sweet young girls they remember from The Voice Kids Germany all grown up and forging their own musical path. However, with their mature voices, unique style, and stunning vocal talent that was clear from the very beginning, it may now be time for Mimi and Josefin to lean into their talent fully. As adults, they are now able to utilize their talent in order to push the boundaries of their creativity, experiment with artistic expression, and find their own voice – and it seems that, for them, HAVET is the perfect vehicle to do it.
