Guns N’ Roses created an entire cultural moment when they released their 1992 music video for their legendary rock ballad, “November Rain.” Even 30 years later, rock fans are still recreating the classic moment Slash walked out of the wedding ceremony to slay an epic guitar solo outside the desert church.
In 2017, one Jewish groom performed one of the unlikeliest rock tributes on the internet; whipping out his guitar while awaiting the arrival of his bride-to-be, to play Slash’s solo as he walked down the aisle.
The clip has since gone internet-viral, amassing more than 8.7 million YouTube views to date. Music Man readers can watch the magic unfold in the video above!
And, if you can’t remember the original Guns ‘N’ Roses church solo too clearly, you can revisit the moment in the band’s 2.4 billion-times-viewed music video below…
As wedding guests line the aisle of the open-air ceremony, the groom snatches the limelight before his soon-to-be wife arrives, walking his sunset-red SG guitar down the aisle before unleashing Slash’s explosive guitar solo.
The guests are clearly awestruck, with a few of them looking utterly confused at the groom’s clean break from tradition, yet he doesn’t let their patchwork of mixed expressions derail his dream to become a rock god for a day.
The groom doesn’t just play the iconic church solo, though. He crafts a medley of three distinct guitar solos featured throughout Guns N’ Roses’ nine-minute epic, nailing each and every one while transitioning seamlessly between them. We’ve got to hand it to him, not only for his insane skill as a guitarist but for timing his surprise performance just right, so as not to steal the bride’s thunder (or spark one of the quickest divorces in history!)
While fans have been blown away by the groom’s guitar solo, viewers can’t help but pick up on the pure comedy underlying his decision to recreate Guns N’ Roses’ most iconic music video moment.
One viewer joked, “Dude probably thought about doing this in the shower when he was 13 and now his time has come,” as another top commenter humorously followed up, “The only reason he got married was to play this solo. He didn’t care who the bride was.”
Another viewer earned over 9,000 likes when they re-titled his performance, “Guns ‘N’ Moses,” while yet another ingeniously pointed out, to the tune of 5,500 likes, “Inverted Slash: little hat, no hair.”
