Remembering that time Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad sang “Some Things Never Change” from Frozen 2 backstage, and it sounded jaw-droppingly good!

There are still some names in the music biz who make stripped-back performances sound effortless. And the cast of Frozen 2 proved they are in that increasingly exclusive club! Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) and Josh Gad (Olaf) charmed fans with their stripped-back backstage rehearsal on “Some Things Never Change”. It was lo-fi, but with a group this talented, you don’t need any big production.

In addition to the incredible vocal talent on display, it was just so sweet to see the warm bonds between the co-stars. Kristen and Josh’s embrace at 0:45 made this such a feelgood moment. Josh subsequently introduced Jonathan as being “from Hamilton” and got a laugh from the quartet. The Music Man has to say we could listen to this star-studded quartet sing all day!

Fan channel Tiogi Doblajes uploaded the Frozen 2 backstage rehearsal to YouTube, where it hit 1.8 million views. Fans added comments such as “I love how their voices sound the same as in the movie” and “Kristen’s voice is like crystal clear water”; another said Kristen and Jonathan’s harmonies gave them chills.

Any time Kristen Bell sings her Frozen hits live, it’s always a banger. One of her greatest live performances came when she sang a medley of Disney bops with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, including “Let It Go” and “Into the Unknown” from the Frozen films. This was such a nostalgic performance, with songs from The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin and more. How much fun Kristen and Jimmy had while doing it, like it was a karaoke session between friends, made this an extra special performance.

The Music Man readers may recall that “Some Things Never Change” was featured as the second track on the official soundtrack of Frozen 2. It was the only song on the soundtrack that featured all four of the lead actors from the movie, which was also the lineup featured in the rehearsal performance in the video above.
The soundtrack of Frozen 2 was an international hit, going double Platinum in the US and Canada, as well as Platinum in the UK, Austria, Denmark and New Zealand.
