Italian vocalist and viral sensation Luke Silva was busking by the London Eye when a ten-year-old girl, Viola Marie, stepped out from the crowd, ready to shock the city with a live duet.
Nobody expected Viola Marie to take on one of the most difficult pop hits in recent memory, let alone sing it with an absolute stranger. As their growing audience watched the unpredictable performance unfold, the tension was sky-high until Viola unleashed her inner Lady Gaga and blew the entire crowd’s mind.
Music Man readers can watch Luke and Viola’s on-the-spot duet in the viral video above – it’s already wowed more than 663,000 viewers in less than two weeks of reaching the internet!
As Luke asks the crowd if there’s anyone who would like to sing with him, the crowd gasps as Viola makes herself known and reveals that she shares Luke’s Italian heritage. With the pair forming an instant bond over this, the brave ten-year-old tells Luke her song of choice: Die With A Smile, by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga.
They instinctively split verses to mimic the original hit: Luke kicking off the track with Bruno Mars’ lyrics, as the crowd patiently awaits the Lady Gaga segment. And then, the true magic takes wing…
Luke can hardly believe his ears when Viola enters the song with a pitch-perfect vocal run, her velvet vocals gliding through the lyrics with a vibrant smile as if she were born to perform. Viola instantly brightens the vibe of the grey spring day, drawing an ever-growing audience to her spontaneous song whilst showing no hint at all of nerves or stage fright.
Flawless vibratos, adult tones, and unbelievable pitch control combine to craft a chorus that’s instantly dazzling. But it’s nothing compared to what happens next…
For their final chorus, Luke and Viola weave their voices into spectacular harmony, their Italian tones complementing each other magnificently as Viola reaches her captivating high notes and wraps up the song with a soft voice.
Luke and Viola didn’t only leave their huge, live audience spellbound with this duet. YouTube viewers have been going wild in the comments section, spreading nothing but praise for the pair.
One viewer noticed, “Wow, she has an extraordinarily strong voice for one so young. Beautiful, little one, just beautiful to hear. The two of you sounded great together. Thank you for letting her shine, Luke,” as another top commenter wrote, “Someone, quickly sign this young lady up for a record deal!”
