Stephen Robert Nesta Marley is an 8 time Grammy award winning musician and producer. Born on the 20th April, 1972, to father Bob Marley and mother Alpharita Constantia “Rita” Anderson. Stephen has many siblings, the official Bob Marley website acknowledges he had 11 children. Stephen’s musical talents have taken on a career of their own separate to his father’s gigantic legacy. He has showcased his own powerful vocals and musical knowledge producing multiple hit records. Stephen was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. Coming from a very musical family, Stephen naturally took up playing instruments, developed his singing voice and musical knowledge from a very young age.

Stephen plays a variety of musical instruments. He also self produced many of his own albums Mind Control released in 2007, Mind Control Acoustic released in 2008, Revelation Part I: The Root of Life released in 2011 and Revelation Part II: The Fruit of Life released in 2016.

The Jamaican singer, songwriter and world renowned musician Bob Marley was an ambassador for reggae music all over the world. Throughout in career he sold more than 20,000,000 records which landed him as the first international superstar to be produced by a “Third World Country”. Born in 1945 in Nine Mile, British Jamaica Bob Marley didn’t start his professional music career until 1965.

Bob Marley formed a band called “Bob Marley and the Wailers” which released a debut album called “The Wailing Wailers” in 1965. The studio album contained the hit single “One Love/People Get Ready”.

The wailers landed a contract in 1972 with Island Records which is when Bob Marley’s career really took off! He eventually died from cancer in May 1981 in Miami, Florida.

He had a nickname “White Boy”. Bullied by his neighbors and derogatorily named “White Boy” Bob said this motivated him to practice his beliefs saying “I’m not on the white man’s side, or the black man’s side. I’m on God’s side.”
