There’s no question that the London singer is one of the greatest vocal talents of this generation, and that was on full display in her medley of “Escapism,” “Oscar Winning Tears,” and “Body Dysmorphia.” She opened up with a soulful and intense take on “Escapism” with only a lone string part for accompaniment, before bringing the fire and thunder with “Oscar Winning Tears.”
On “Oscar Winning Tears” Raye switched up between soul vocals and a rap flow, and the power coming off her onstage was really something. The Music Man readers will definitely want to tune into her show-stopping high note just after the two-minute mark. Talk about a voice! Raye then knelt on the stage and sang “Body Dysmorphia” and explained that “it’s a song about hating the way you look.” It takes a lot of courage to discuss something so personal onstage like that, and it certainly made for a powerful performance.
Raye performed at the MTV Europe Music Awards on November 10, 2024, and in the month since then, her medley has gained 519,000 views on YouTube. Her performance left a big impression on fans, who added comments such as “It’s incredible how she can always come up with different versions of her songs, and every single one of them is AMAZING!” and “She leaves me speechless. Powerhouse vocalist! We should be so lucky to have her. Once in a generation type of talent.”

Raye has had a huge 2024, and she has given several high-profile performances throughout the year, a number of which went viral.
