Fans Couldn’t Get Enough Of This Sweet And Heartfelt Performance By David Gilmour And His Daughter Romany Gilmour

We all know what a musical force Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour is, but you might not have heard the mad skills of his daughter Romany Gilmour. The English guitar legend delivered a sweet and heartfelt performance with his 22-year-old daughter on November 3, 2024, on a cover of The Montgolfier Brothers’ “Between Two Points.” Romany played harp and sang the lead vocal, while of course Gilmour did what he does best on the six strings.

Romany opened the performance on Later… with Jools Holland with an evocative harp melody and sang such a sweet and aching vocal melody. She’s a spitting image of her dad, and clearly his prodigious musical talent has been passed down as well. As for Papa Gilmour, he took a backseat in the first half of the song, but closed out the song with a gorgeous guitar solo. The Music Man is happy to report that the solo is 100% classic Gilmour, and easily could have been plucked from an old school Pink Floyd hit.

The family performance with Gilmour’s solo band on “Between Two Points” proved to be quite popular and drew 1.3 million views on YouTube. Fans really enjoyed seeing the Gilmour family jam and added comments such as “You can tell playing with his daughter is a great experience for him. An entire successful career and at the end of it, creating new songs with his family. Utterly inspiring” and “Consider me blown away. The look and the smile between them both at the end – that’s what life is truly about.”

While Pink Floyd’s touring days are done, Gilmour has kept the fire alive with some spectacular performances with his solo band in recent years. One of his most popular performances in recent years is the Floyd classic “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” which he recorded for his Live At Pompeii album. Pink Floyd famously rocked the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in 1971, and Gilmour returned 45 years later in 2016 with his solo band to recreate the iconic vibes of the earlier show.

British indie pop duo The Montgolfier Brothers wrote “Between Two Points” and released the song on their 1999 debut album Seventeen Stars. Gilmour later included the song as the second single from his September 6, 2024, solo album Luck and Strange. The Music Man readers might be interested to hear that “Between Two Points” is a bit of an oddball inclusion on the album, as every other song was written by David Gilmour and his family members.
