8-year-old Olivia Rodrido singing “Home Sweet Home” is too precious, and a showtunes version of Mötley Crüe sounds better than you might expect – especially with this kind of vocal talent!

Some people were just born to be stars. One of them was Olivia Rodrigo, who at just eight years old, warmed the hearts of music lovers with her viral talent show rendition of “Home Sweet Home”. Little Olivia definitely brought some theatre kid energy to this performance, and her showtunes take on the Mötley Crüe classic actually kinda slaps. Even back then she was a true original! Olivia’s performance is great for more than just the awww factor. She was a genuinely talented vocalist, even at that young age.

Little Olivia had impressive vocal control, range, and dynamics. She also sang with an authentic emotion in her voice, which isn’t easy to get right as a youngster. It seems the California star is just a natural on stage, as she showed no signs of nerves and put on a confident stage show with plenty of pizzazz. The Music Man has to say that young Olivia sure would have been a hard act to follow!

YouTuber Ken Bennett uploaded Olivia’s take on “Home Sweet Home” all the way back on September 7, 2011, when Olivia was eight. It has since gone viral, drawing 1.2 million views. Viewers had to agree she brought the right stuff and added comments such as “The fact that she had this much vocal control and such a nice voice at this age is amazing!” and “Her tone changed so much. But she was extraordinary for a child.”

Any era of Olivia has memorable performances. One of our favorite performances from the California hitmaker came when she sang early Ed Sheeran banger “The A Team” with none other than the English superstar himself! Although she is a relative newcomer to the industry, Olivia always seems to get the top talent in the business wanting to sing duets with her. It really goes to show how much the industry A-listers appreciate Olivia’s talent.

Olivia Rodrigo was born on February 20, 2003, in Murrieta, California. She joined her elementary school’s after-school musical theater group, getting an early taste for performing. When Olivia was five, her parents enrolled her in singing lessons with Jennifer Dustman. Jennifer then signed up Olivia for various local singing competitions, which is presumably what led to the young singer’s performance of “Home Sweet Home.” Olivia continued to expand her music skills as a kid, beginning piano lessons at nine and learning guitar at age 12. Her interest in songwriting bloomed after she became a fan of Taylor Swift’s early country music output.
