John Cena probably didn’t expect his cameo on The Kelly Clarkson Show to become the most viral moment in the entire history of the show. The 23.4 million view moment happened when Kelly hosted South African singer Sho Madjozi, who grew up on John’s wrestling matches. Just after the four-minute mark, while Sho performed her viral song about John Cena, The Champ himself snuck up behind her with some poppin’ dance moves and then absolute chaos was unleashed.
Sho absolutely freaked out when John appeared, and she soon completely forgot about her performance as she squealed and ran around the studio. She then remonstrated at the top of her lungs with Kelly for pranking her, but it was all in good fun. The Music Man has to say that John has some seriously tight dance moves – turns out the big guy has many talents!
John’s appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show drew 23.4 million views across two uploads (of the same content) on the channel, which is more than double the views of any other segment ever pulled on the show. Fans loved the cheeky moment and added comments such as “I’ve never seen someone so excited to meet a celebrity! She’s adorable.” and “John allowing her to shine is heartwarming, he’s a real champion.”
For a pro wrestler, it’s a little surprising how often John has gone viral for his dancing. John launched his original viral dance meme all the way back in 2017, when he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The wrestler donned a pair of headphones for Jimmy’s whisper challenge and began a cheeky little dance in response to the beat that played. That moment in the popular segment then launched a thousand memes.
Sho and John’s segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show was so sweet, as the pair have such great chemistry, even though they’d never met before. Fans picked up on one aspect of John’s surprise appearance during Sho’s performance. Viewers noted that John was very gracious throughout the segment while he was meeting his number one fan, Sho. A number of people commented on the fact that John took time in their interview after the performance to celebrate Sho’s talent and creativity, which was super heartwarming and not something every star at his level would take the time to do. The Music Man has to say The Champ is the definition of a class act!
