“Lennie is 8 years old. He was born extremely prematurely weighing 3lbs. He had grade 4 bilateral brain bleeds and was in intensive care for many weeks. We were told to expect an extremely limited life for Lennie.

“Lennie does have various physical and communication difficulties as a result of his difficult start in life. He has Cerebral Palsy and is unable to walk or stand independently. Dystonia affects his ability to control his muscles and he struggles to hold a pencil or cutlery properly.

Lennie also has hydrocephalus and has a VP shunt inserted in his brain to drain excess fluid. Hydrocephalus affects Lennie’s memory andconcentration and ability to learn.

Life is challenging for Lennie in almost every way. Every way that is except music. Music is everything to Lennie. It soothes him, stimulates him, its the first thing that he thinks of when he wakes up and the last before he falls asleep.

Despite his physical and cognitive challenges, Lennie can play the piano. He learns by ear and uses his fingers in ways that seem impossible.

Lennie is using his music over the Covoid 19 crisis to raise money for his specialist school who are fundraising for a new building.”
