15-year-old Khloe Grace delivered the most heartbreaking 2026 American Idol audition, singing in tribute to late 13-year-old Aubreigh Wyatt, who took her own life after social media bullying. Khloe never met Aubreigh, but having also battled bullying, wrote “Forever 13” for her. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Khloe performed, with Aubreigh’s mother Heather Wyatt and judge Carrie Underwood becoming quite emotional.
The Jacksonville, Florida teen’s emotive voice and powerful message hit a chord for the judges and many fans at home. Carrie was so emotional that she could barely get through her comments but managed to say that Khloe’s message had the power to change people’s minds about their actions moving forward. The Music Man has to say that this audition is just about impossible to get through with dry eyes.
Khloe’s audition went live on YouTube on January 27, 2026. It hit 621,000 views in two weeks, becoming one of the most-viewed auditions of the season so far. The performance really hit home for fans, who added comments such as “This was not just an audition, this is a song that deserves to be number one on the charts. Her story is absolutely heartbreaking and I even started crying when I was watching this” and “I’m literally crying my eyes out, being someone who also went through this.”
Khloe’s American Idol appearance is not the first time she has brought her original music to television. In September 2025, she appeared on River City Live, where she performed her song “Reasons to Stay.” This song also has a very personal message to it, and it really shows how deep Khloe’s talent as a singer-songwriter goes.
Khloe Grace is a high school student from Jacksonville, Florida. She was previously an undiscovered talent before her appearance on season 24 of American Idol. The Music Man readers might be interested to know that she has been quite active as a singer-songwriter, though. The teen has shared a number of her original songs and covers over the past year on her Instagram, @khloegracemusic. Khloe has covered folk, country, and pop artists such as Ed Sheeran, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Swift.
Khloe got yes votes from all three judges after her American Idol performance, sending her through to the Hollywood week. At the time of writing, she is yet to make her second appearance on the show, but a number of fans have tipped her as a strong contender in the competition moving forward.
