Hollywood star Jennifer Garner got a memorable 50th birthday surprise from her number one biggest crush Donny Osmond. First up, Garner got a personalised video message from the former teen idol, which was already enough to blow her mind, but Osmond had something really special planned to surprise the actress.
After she watched the video message, Osmond snuck up behind Garner and started singing Happy Birthday to her. She of course instantly recognized his voice, freaked out then turned around to hug the pop star. Osmond was clearly loving the moment and had a huge smile on his face when he got to spring the surprise on her. You can see the video yourself below.
After the hug, Garner was getting a bit steamy and had to pause to take her jumper off, which got a big laugh from Osmond. The singer then presented a cake to the actress, which displayed a picture of a teen Garner and read “13 going on 50! Love Donny!”. The actress has made no secret of the fact that as a teen she was obsessed with Osmond, who was quite a heartthrob in his day, which is what the cake design is referencing.
Osmond wasn’t done though, and he stuck around and sang his hits with Garner. In the video the pair do an adorable singalong of his duet with Marie Osmond “Make the World Go Away”. Osmond showed off his golden voice and just sang like a bird, while Garner is actually quite a good singer as well so the pair make quite a team. You can check out Donny and Marie singing the song together on a TV spot back in his heyday in the video below.
Ever a class act, Osmond took to his Instagram after making Garner’s day and said: “Surprising fans is one of my favourite things to do, so when I had the opportunity to surprise the lovely Jennifer Garner on her 50th birthday, I was overjoyed. Thanks for letting me celebrate with you!”
Garner also posted on her Instagram about meeting her idol, saying: “My first (pre)birthday surprise was a doozy– the one and only, legend in his own time, object of my childhood adoration and devotion– Donny Osmond showed up to knock my purple socks off. He took an hour and a half of his day to sit with me, sing my favourites and to give me a master class on how to be a class act. Thank you Donny!”
Fans really enjoyed seeing Garner and Osmond together in the video, adding comments such as “That just made me love Donnie so much! How sweet to show up and make Jen’s birthday special,” and “One thing about the Osmonds: they have always appreciated their fans. And Donny seems to get a huge kick out of going that extra mile to make someone’s day.” If you would like to see more from Donny Osmond, you can subscribe to his YouTube channel or follow him on Instagram.
