Sometimes the term "voice of an angel" is overused when talking about child singers. It seems to be made for Heavenly Joy Jerkins, though. This beautiful and talented little girl appeared on the tenth series of America's Got Talent when she was five years old. She performed In Summer from Disney's Frozen for her audition.
The reaction of the judges was crystal clear; they were blown away. They voted unanimously to put her through to the judges' cuts round. That's when we come to a mystery. Joy's audition was uploaded to the AGT YouTube channel and went viral. At the time of writing, it has been viewed an unbelievable 37.3 million times.
Comments show that fans worldwide are captivated by her talent at such a young age and how adorable she is. Sadly for all of them, she never appeared in the Judges' Cuts round. No statement from Joy's family or the AGT show explained what happened. The two possibilities are that Joy and her family decided that she would withdraw from the competition. Maybe it was just too much pressure for such a young girl?
The second possibility is that there were more acts put through than there was room for. As a result, joy may have been cut before the next round. If that's the case, it seems strange that AGT didn't issue a list of the acts they chose to eliminate. Joy, in particular, was very popular, so the viewers deserve to know what went on. We are now seven years from the show, yet no explanation has ever appeared.
Heavenly Joy Jerkins was born in Calabasas, California, on the 17th of November, 2009. Her parents are music producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and singer Joy Enriquez. Joy has three siblings, two brothers, Rodney David and Royal David, and a sister Hannah Joy.
Mum Joy has appeared on tv and in movies and released several albums and singles. She even sang backing vocals on the Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey hit When You Believe. Heavenly Joy seems to have been destined to follow in mum Joy's footsteps as a singer. She began to sing when she was only a year old, and even though she did not progress through AGT, she still loves to sing.
She has appeared on the Today Show and Little Big Shots. Reports suggested she was also cast in the animated movie Blazing Samurai, but this is not confirmed. Whatever the truth, she is still making waves even though she's only twelve. If she chooses to pursue a musical career as she gets older, she certainly has the talent. She's also lucky that her mum and dad work in the industry and should be able to support her every step of the way.
