It was the voice of K-pop Demon Hunters Huntrix’s big moment singing “Golden” at BAFTAs 2026, but Leonardo DiCaprio’s eyes almost derailed the whole thing! Singer and songwriter of the viral hit, Ejae, later explained to Today that right as she came up to that iconic high note in the chorus: “Unfortunately I opened my eyes and locked eyes with Leonardo DiCaprio.” Those piercing blue eyes distracted her, and Ejae’s voice cracked at the big moment.
But just like the hit movie, Ejae had a redemption arc, and next time that big hook came around, she crushed it like a true K-pop Demon Hunter! The viral moment on the big high note came just after the 1:30 minute mark in the BAFTAs performance, where she sang “born to be.” Controversy about that hook aside, The Music Man is pleased to report that the real-life Huntrix vocal trio of Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami were a big hit at the BAFTAs, with their take on “Golden” hitting three million views within a week.
The BBC uploaded Ejae, Audrey, and Rei’s take on “Golden” on February 23, 2026. Fans were loving the trio’s performance and added comments like “Wait, the cracking voice is actually genius. It’s like in the movie but then she overcomes it and hits the rest of the notes” and “People don’t understand how hard this song is to sing live. Proud of her.”
After K-pop Demon Hunters became the most popular movie in Netflix history, the Huntrix vocal trio have become hot property. Ejae, Audrey, and Rei also appeared at the BRITs on March 1, 2026, to sing “Golden”. This performance went off without any vocal hitches, and the main hook came off gloriously. The hyped reaction from the youngsters in the crowd to seeing the voices of Huntrix in real life made it such a special performance.
“Golden” was released as the second single from the soundtrack of K-pop Demon Hunters. Ejae, Audrey, and Rei provided the singing voices of the animated girl group on the song. Ejae also co-wrote the song with Mark Sonnenblick, 24, Ido, and Blackpink songwriter Teddy Park. Much like the film, “Golden” was a worldwide smash hit. The Music Man readers might be interested to hear that the song went multi-Platinum in 11 markets, including five times Platinum in the US. The hit single and film helped raise the visibility of K-pop globally in a big way. Notably, “Golden” won a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media, which made it the first K-pop hit to win a Grammy.
