As many Music Man readers will know, Calum Scott joined Ed Sheeran on tour as his support act throughout 2024. When he found out he’d landed the gig, he said he felt that he “had to pinch himself” because it was such a dream come true. Ed gave Calum a shout-out from onstage and then asked, “Would you mind singing one of your biggest songs with me tonight on my stage?”
Calum agreed and joined Ed on stage for an impromptu performance of one of his biggest hits, 2017’s ‘You Are The Reason’. Ed began to play the song’s soft introduction on his acoustic guitar and invited Calum to take the mic. Calum started off singing the song on his own as Ed backed him up with a gentle acoustic instrumental. Ed soon joined him in singing the song, harmonizing to turn the tune into a stunning duet while the audience sang along, too.
Then, Ed turned the moment into an extra special experience for Calum as he asked him to take out his earpiece so he could listen to the crowd sing. Calum looked flustered and emotional as he listened to the crowd singing along to his song word perfectly. Clearly moved by the experience, he gave Ed a hug at the end of the song and blew a kiss to the audience as they cheered. One attendee returned to the online video to relive the experience, commenting, “I was there. It was amazing!”
