Dua Lipa has kids all shook up with surprise visit to her old school in adorable and hilarious BBC segment

We’re all used to seeing Dua Lipa slay stadium tours all over the world, but earlier this year we got to see a very different side to her. The BBC put the London-born megastar up to a very special segment where she visited her old primary school and adorably got to team up with the kids in a very special play performance! The look of surprise and then pure joy that the young students had when the popstar walked in was just way too cute.

Just like onstage, Lipa is effortlessly charming in real life, making the segment a joy to watch. She opened the school day by catching up with her old year six instructor, head teacher Rob. Rob declared that Lipa was a “lovely, lovely girl” and memorably declared that as a kid, she was “the right type of cheeky,” which the BBC promptly used as the video title. Any Lipa fans among The Music Man readership def don’t want to miss this special surprise visit!

One of the best parts of the segment was seeing footage of Lipa as a youngster, trying out for the school play with an intense audition, while an adult Lipa reacted to the footage. It’s lucky she went into music instead of acting, as she didn’t make the cut and her best friend instead got the lead part. Ever the gentleman, teacher Rob let Lipa have one more go at trying out for the school play.

Lipa made her surprise appearance just as the kids were doing their play auditions. Funnily enough, Lipa admitted she was nervous as she waited outside the classroom. After her big entrance, the kids needed a little time to calm down, but eventually, Lipa got to try out for the play again, and I have to say, she’s improved her acting chops over the years! Lipa is a regular on the BBC by now, with another popular appearance on the broadcaster being her cover of Arctic Monkeys’ “Do I Wanna Know?”

Lipa, who is now 29 years old, was born in London, England, on August 22, 1995. She was born to Kosovo Albanian parents, and she grew up in West Hampstead, where she attended London Fitzjohn’s Primary School. It won’t surprise The Music Man readers to know that she had an early interest in music, as she took cello lessons at the school. She also auditioned for the school choir, but in an ironic turn, the choir teacher told her she “could not sing.” Unperturbed by this setback, she took singing lessons at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, and the rest is history.
