Dua Lipa Dominates Capital’s Summertime Ball With Her Perfect Summer Hit “Be The One”

Dua Lipa is arguably one of the biggest stars in modern mainstream music at the moment. Her career has gone from strength to strength, and fans all over the world cannot get enough of the 28-year-old English singer. Her sold-out shows bring in huge crowds that seem to just grow and grow as this influential musician continues to make waves with her music. Some of her best performances are at festivals such as Capital’s Summertime Ball, where she played one of her biggest hits, “Be the One”.

If there was ever a performance to demonstrate Dua Lipa’s talent and appeal, it’s this one from her time at the 2017 Summertime Ball. Not only does she perform her massive hit with extreme precision and near-perfect vocals, but she also shows how she can control an audience with ease, while being incredibly entertaining throughout her performance. Captivating an entire stadium’s audience with nothing more than a few backup dancers supporting her, she makes it all look so easy.

Few have soared to heights such as Dua Lipa in such a short amount of time. Musically, she has been active since 2014 when she signed a recording contract with Warner Bros. Her 2017 debut, however, is what really caused Dua Lipa to surge in popularity. This self-titled record hit number three on the UK Albums Chart of that year, and helped cement Dua Lipa as one of the biggest emerging artists in the UK at that time. Since then, her career has only been on an upward trajectory.

Despite the success of her debut, Dua Lipa was far from done with winning. Her second album, 2020’s Future Nostalgia, was about to blow her debut out of the water as it hit number one on the UK Album Charts and also won Lipa the Brit Award for British Album of the Year. The album’s accolades also came alongside a staggering 6 billion total streams on Spotify since its release, and over 60,000 physical copies sold. One of the strongest songs from her second record was “Hallucinate”.

Capital’s Summertime Ball is a mini-festival that has been hosted annually in London since 2009. Initially held at the Emirates Stadium, it is now typically held at the iconic and vast Wembley Stadium. It has featured some of the biggest names in modern mainstream music, such as Niall Horan, Lewis Capaldi, Sigala, and Adam Lambert. This 80,000-person event is one of the biggest events of the year for many and is certainly not one to miss. Held in June, it’s also the perfect summer party.

With her success over the years, Dua Lipa has had some extraordinary opportunities. In 2023, she released “Dance the Night”, which became the lead single for the new Barbie movie’s soundtrack. Alongside this, she also starred in the movie as Mermaid Barbie. Could this be the beginning of an acting career for Dua Lipa alongside her music?
