One Filipino daddy-daughter duo has been breaking the internet since 2019, going viral with a surprisingly awesome karaoke clip, filmed in the middle of a shopping center!
The pair can be seen singing the lyrics of a cheesy, heartfelt ballad off an out-of-view teleprompter. The Music Man can’t tell how many people are circling the duo off-camera, but despite all the dad’s anticipatory nervous laughter, the pair absolutely nails the song without a flicker of stage fright.
Daughter and viral video uploader, Myrrh Keilah Nino takes on the first verse alone while her dad stands beside her, plastic bags in one hand and mic in the other. Myrrh’s first lines steal the show from the get-go; even the security guard patrolling the shop doors behind can hardly keep his eyes off her as her voice soars through octaves and masters the Disney-style ballad.
But her dad’s first lines quickly stir some murmurs amongst the audience as it becomes clear Myrrh’s vocal talent runs thick through the family. Their chemistry during this impromptu performance is so natural that the pair hardly look at each other, but their harmonies run vibrant and blissful. Effortlessly amazing.
Myrrh’s dad lowkey steals the show, representing every dad on Earth as he stands cross-armed with his plastic bags of shopping and smiling through every soaring verse, letting Myrrh’s angelic top notes shine. One fan of this 4.6M-times-viewed clip noticed hilariously, “Dad sang so casually holding that plastic shopping bag… and delivered this song like it was nothing…”
One viewer, Kimberly Winn, summed it up perfectly, commenting, “When Filipinos take the mix, just grab a chair and listen. It’s a gift.” Another viewer, captivated by Myrrh’s dad’s flawless voice and hilariously casual personality, clocked, “This is for sure one of the reasons why her mother fell in love with her father.”
Myrrh, whose YouTube channel description sums up quite simply, “I sing for the glory of God!”, is a serial uploader of music covers. Her back catalogue includes a rendition of Elton John’s Lion King hit, “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” alongside vast swathes of Christian songs and a few rare originals. She even recorded a cover of Coldplay’s “The Scientist” and home-filmed a full music video to go with it!
This isn’t the only time Myrrh has duetted with her dad, either. Her YouTube channel also hosts clips of the pair singing at various weddings, and covering “When God Made You” on a karaoke machine in their home!
