You’ve never heard Lewis Capaldi like this! Fans said they got big-time chills when these five sisters came together to sing heartbreaking renditions of the Scottish hitmaker’s greatest anthems. The Cimorelli family vocal group created lush harmonies over a lone piano part, creating an emotionally hard-hitting take on Capaldi’s hits. They kicked off the viral medley by teasing a stripped-back version of “Someone You Loved.”
However, they left the best to last. When they brought back “Someone You Loved” with all five voices just after the 3:30 mark, fans couldn’t stop replaying the section again and again. In addition to the epic harmonies right throughout the medley, seeing the sweet bond between the sisters as they sing together made the video a super heartwarming watch. The Music Man has to say this is the best cover we’ve heard of Capaldi’s hits.
When Cimorelli uploaded their Capaldi medley, it proved to be popular on YouTube, where it hit 824,000 views. Fans gave the five-piece plenty of love below the video and added comments such as “Your harmonies give me chills” and “Every time I hear this it makes me levitate. Lisa singing and then the harmonies in the background *chef’s kiss*.”
The sisters have scored a number of viral videos with their covers of popular songs on YouTube. One of their greatest moments came when they covered Taylor Swift’s breakup anthem “I Knew You Were Trouble.” What I love about this performance is that it’s captured in a single shot without cuts. Hitting all those harmonies so accurately in one take without any editing is hugely impressive.
Cimorelli are a five-piece vocal group who originated from El Dorado Hills, California. The group is made up of five sisters from the Cimorelli family: Christina, Lisa, Katherine, Amy, and Lauren. The Music Man readers may also note that sixth sister Dani can also be seen in a number of the group’s earlier videos. Dani departed the group in 2020, after which they continued as a five-piece. The six Cimorelli sisters grew up in a Catholic family, where their parents home-schooled them along with their five brothers. Their mum Lynne taught all her kids how to sing and play piano. Cimorelli signed to Universal Music label Island Records in 2009, and they issued five EPs with Island. These releases saw chart success in the US, with four of them hitting the top ten of the US Heat chart. The group is currently based in Nashville, Tennessee, and releases their music as an independent act.
