These kids can sing like nobody’s business! The Birmingham Youth & Young Adult Fellowship Choir blew everyone away with their feel-good performance of “Joy”. The youth choir features so many talented singers, and the passion and power that they brought to The Georgia Mass Choir’s classic worship song is really a joy to watch. Seeing so many young people bring their voices together for a song with such a positive message is bound to put a smile on your dial.
The choir showed off their vocal chops together in the intro, before soloist Mason Webb delivered such a passionate and soulful lead vocal. Shay Caldwell took the next lead vocal, singing a more gentle verse, but her voice was just as beautiful. The Music Man readers might notice that the love that the kids have for what they do comes out really strong in the performance, which makes it such a compelling watch.
The choir performed “Joy” at a benefit concert in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 21, 2024. The choir founder and director Ahkeem Lee uploaded the video the following month, and it quickly picked up momentum on YouTube, gaining 310,000 views on the platform. Viewers really vibed with the performance and added comments such as “Beautiful. I love the old school gospel. That’s the music I grew up on” and “Love this! This has really blessed my soul this morning! Continue singing such wonderful songs young people!”

The Birmingham Youth & Young Adult Fellowship Choir were really firing on all cylinders at the July benefit concert, as they scored several popular YouTube videos from the event. The group’s second-most popular video is from the same concert and features the choir singing Reverend Timothy Wright’s “Yes, I’m A Believer” with a whole lotta soul power.
The Birmingham Youth & Young Adult Fellowship Choir was established in June 2015. The group is a nonprofit ministry for youth and young adults in the north-central Alabama city of Birmingham. Founder Ahkeem Lee has been uploading the choir’s performances on YouTube since September 2015. The choir seems to be in a major purple patch at the moment, as beginning in late 2023, their performances began gaining more traction on YouTube. The group’s recent performance of “Joy” was the first to really take off and gain a six-figure view count, and it also gave a bump to some of their other performances on the platform from the last 12 months.
