Benson Boone’s voice is just something else. The 22-year-old American star crushes it every time he hits the stage, and his 2024 MTV Video Music performance was no exception! Boone hit the crowd with his breakout single “Beautiful Things,” and his voice was beyond flawless throughout. Make sure to tune into the final chorus from 2:45 onwards, where he hits higher and higher notes until he just about hits the stratosphere, all with a gorgeous, creamy tone. Some peeps are just built different like that.
Another highlight of the performance is Boone’s athleticism, as he does front flips off the stairs and later the piano onstage at 1:28 and 2:45. He gets some serious air during the flips and looks like a total pro doing it. We all know the lad could sing like a boss, but I sure didn’t know he was an acrobat too! Here at The Music Man, Boone is one of our favourite emerging artists, and his VMAs appearance shows all the reasons why.
MTV uploaded Boone’s live cut of “Beautiful Things” on September 12, 2024. The performance rapidly went viral, clocking up 3.3 million views in the following two months. Fans gave some major props to the rising star below the video, adding comments such as “This is by far his best performance of this song. His voice is still stable even after jumping and backflipping. Just wow!” and “Man, the showmanship that’s been lacking by so many for so long. What a breath of fresh air this young man is!”
Boone has just been going from strength to strength in 2024, with several of his recent performances doing major numbers on YouTube. The Washington State star also blew away English crowds at the Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on June 16, 2024. Boone played four songs at the show, and of course, his closer, “Beautiful Things”, totally brought the house down.
Boone initially came to public attention after auditioning for American Idol in 2021. After his audition, the judges invited him to advance to the Hollywood round, but he instead withdrew and considered his career options. The Music Man is happy to report that this decision proved to be a wise move, as Boone soon drew millions of followers on TikTok while sharing sneak peeks of his upcoming original music. He built on this hype by signing with Warner Records, where he scored two minor hits from his debut EP Walk Me Home. Boone subsequently broke out big time with his 2024 debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades, which featured his three-times US Platinum hit “Beautiful Things.”
