America’s Got Talent Has Never Heard This ‘80s Rock Classic Like THIS Before, And Just Wait Until You Hear Singing Janitor Richard Goodall’s Sparkling Voice!

The singing janitor Richard Goodall walked onstage on America’s Got Talent in his usual janitor uniform, which was fitting because this guy’s voice is hella clean! The 55-year-old opened with a soulful take on Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” singing the opening verse as an a cappella section, which was a brilliant and unexpected way to open up his semifinals performance.

Goodall is a fan favorite and he did not disappoint with his latest performance, which was uploaded just last week on September 12, 2024. He performed the first chorus of the ‘80s classic in a piano rock style, before bringing out the big guns and really rocking out with the famous guitar riff that usually opens the song. The Music Man readers will recall that the rock hit has some seriously big notes, but Goodall hit ‘em all high and low without breaking a sweat.

You really gotta give Goodall credit not only for his epic vocal performance, but also his ability to put his own stamp on the classic song. He changed up not only the musical arrangement, but really put his own style into the vocals, adding new parts that were not in the original. And the new parts worked so well – you know a singer is a genuine talent when they can make a song their own like that.

The audience just about tore the roof off the joint when Goodall brought the song to its triumphant conclusion. Judge Heidi Klum, clearly hyped on the energy in the room, yelled over the crowd, saying, “Are you kidding me right now? Epic performance! Honestly, I thought you could not top what you did last time, but you topped it!” Goodall created one of the biggest hits in AGT history with his audition earlier this year, which has already blown up to 25 million views.

Goodall without a doubt has an incredible voice, but beyond that, there’s just something about him that connects with people, which is why we’re covering him here on The Music Man.
This connection was reflected below his “Eye of the Tiger” performance, with viewers chiming in with comments such as “I came back to AGT because of Richard Goodall! This was how AGT was supposed to be – regular guy, hidden raw talent, not trained or semi-professional! He has my vote!” and “Honestly, this thrills me. To think that this year’s AGT idol could be a 55-year-old school janitor is so freakin’ awesome.”
