As Tom Holland and Zendaya walked the red carpet at a Spider-Man fan event, the crowd around them cheered and waved their fan signs in excitement. The stars were in Paris as part of their promotional tour for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, the event took a turn that neither of them expected when a little girl ran up to Tom and told him, “We’ve got a surprise for you.” Suddenly, a guitarist appeared on a massive structure and began to play Sia’s song ‘Titanium.’
Tom clearly couldn’t figure out what was going on, as he asked the girl if she was going to sing a song, and she shook her head no. Then, out of nowhere, a number of young musicians appeared, including vocalists, violinists, and drummers. Tom and Zendaya looked absolutely astonished, especially when a talented young guitarist took on a metal-style guitar solo. One online viewer was so astonished by the guitarist’s talent, they commented: “The aura the guitar kid had was unmatched.”
I found it very touching to see how amazed Tom and Zendaya were by the performance, alongside the rest of the fans who were in attendance at the event. What I found particularly sweet was how Tom stayed with the little girl who had run up to him and stayed with her through almost the whole performance, helping her to feel included. It was clear to me the actor had no reservations about showing his appreciation for the cover, especially as he air-guitared along with the amazing soloist.
The performance was organized by Julian Cohen, in association with Sony, especially for the event. Music Man readers may know Julian from his days before his enormous collaborations like this when he used to organize surprise public performances and post them to his YouTube channel. One of his most popular street performances is of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen. It features the same young guitarist as the ‘Titanium’ performance, who takes on Brian May’s solo with gusto.
Surprise performances like the ones Julian organizes are impressive on so many levels. Here at the Music Man, we know our readers love to see young talent, and these performances are full to the brim of impressive young musicians with bright futures ahead of them. It is also touching to see how surprises like this can inspire such passionate reactions from the unsuspecting crowds who are on the receiving end of them. There is no doubt that a surprise like this is bound to brighten your day and make for a moment that is truly unforgettable.
