When vocal group VoicePlay joined together with singer Rachel Potter to perform a medley of songs from the hit animated musical ‘Moana,’ the result was a video that fans of the musical can’t help but keep coming back to again and again. The best part about it is that the medley was performed entirely a cappella, with the singers using only their stunning voices to recreate these iconic songs.
The group starts by performing an upbeat version of ‘Where You Are’, before segueing into songs like ‘How Far I’ll Go’ and ‘Shiny’. The highlight of the rendition, however, is surely the group’s ethereal, atmospheric performance of ‘Know Who You Are’, which brings some contemplative, emotive vibes to what is an otherwise entirely feel-good rendition.
Indeed, many viewers have stopped by YouTube’s comment section to share their love for this particular moment in the performance. “I have replayed that [section] so many times just listening to each different part,” says one viewer in one of the video’s most popular comments. “It’s a beautiful transition and just so smooth and soft. Gorgeous arrangement.”
For more of these ‘gorgeous arrangements’ from VoicePlay, you’ll definitely want to check out this medley they created of songs from the movie ‘Frozen 2’ with Adriana Arellano.
