The Voice 2025 coaches introduced themselves by gathering around a piano to sing the Elton John classic Tiny Dancer. What a treat! Michael Bublé and John Legend (on the piano stool for this beguiling version of Tiny Dancer) return from the 2024 season. First-time coach (but no stranger to The Voice) Kelsea Ballerini and Adam Levine (back from a long break) complete the all-star lineup. The Voice coaches tend to have different performance styles. Any differences melt away when the coaches harmonize on Tiny Dancer.
Popular crooner Bublé is on his 2nd season as coach – he was also an advisor to coach Blake Shelton way back on Season 3. Bublé won in his first season as coach (2024) by mentoring season-winner Sofronio Vasquez from the Philippines. The impeccably tailored singer, songwriter, and pianist, John Legend, is back for his 10th season. He also has one win (Maelyn Jarmon, 2019). Country pop star and 5-time Grammy nominee, Kelsea Ballerini, was battle advisor for Kelly Clarkson on Season 16. Ready for a stunning Tiny Dancer?
Robert Antonny comments: “When John Legend is at the piano, you know it’s going to be great.” Elizabeth Harley quips: “Forget the contestants, I can just listen to the judges! Fabulous, it made me smile. I can’t wait for the new season with judges like the four of them.” Emu Unplugged exclaims: “Adam and Kelsea’s voices blend so well together! Love it! They should release a song together.” Janet Sarandin says, “Coach Michael Bublé all the way.” Noah Edwards writes, “So glad Adam’s back.”
Maroon Five frontman Adam Levine has 16 previous seasons as a coach and three wins (Seasons 1, 5, and 9). The producer of The Voice, Audrey Morrissey, worked hard to get Levine to return to a coach’s chair. She says it was a “good game of cat and mouse” until they spoke at Blake Shelton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony in May 2023. “It still took two years,” she added. The choice of Tiny Dancer for the 2025 coach’s song recalls a performance of the song by Levine on The Voice in 2015. Let’s have a look:
That was fun, wasn’t it? To liven things up during the 2015 season’s blind audition rounds, coach Adam Levine put himself forward for a blind audition. It was a moment of levity for the judges; an opportunity for them to show their sense of humor during the preliminary elimination rounds. It can feel a little brutal when so many hopeful applicants are turned away. Adam Levine smashed his “blind audition” with a great version of Tiny Dancer. He scored four chair turns (with a little help from Pharrell Williams, who pushed Adam’s button for him).
When the 2025 coaches performed Elton John’s Tiny Dancer, the song choice was a nod to Adam’s “blind audition” lark, a big welcome-back-to-The-Voice celebration of the Maroon 5 singer’s return. Fittingly, Adam Levine took the first verse. You might have noticed the neat introduction of Ballerini, too. She comes in on the line, “Ballerina, you must have seen her”. Neat.
Fans of The Voice will know that there are seven The Voice franchises in different countries. The Voice – without a country suffix, as in The Voice UK – refers to the US franchise. Meanwhile, Sir Elton John continues to release new music. His latest album, Who Believes In Angels? (2025), is a collaboration with Brandi Carlile. Tiny Dancer was first released on Elton’s Madman Across the Water album (1971).
