This is what happens when two of the BIGGEST talents on The Voice 2026 go head to head in the knockouts! Two million viewers were spellbound when Moses G. and Lucas West performed back to back on Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” and Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” respectively, making for one of the most viral performances of the whole season. However, John Legend was in the hot seat that night and would have to send one of the pair home at the end of the round.
Moses kicked off the performance with a truckload of soul, and some swinging stage moves that lived up to the power of the legendary Marvin Gaye tune he was performing. Lucas hit the piano next, and his level of talent is just undeniable. He’s got that Billy Joel, Elton John magic going on. He really took the audience on a journey with his mesmerizing vocal performance and masterful piano playing. The Music Man has to say Lucas can do absolutely anything with his voice – it’s crazy to watch.
Moses and Lucas’s knockout showdown hit two million views in a little over a week on YouTube, which is an enormous number in that period of time for the show. Fans were split on who won and added comments such as “Both won! I want both to go forward. Each brilliant in their way” and “Moses had the best performance but Lucas’s voice is the most magnetic. How his voice goes from smooth to raspy at the top is so beautiful. Lucas is my pick.” Lucas edged out Moses slightly among fan opinions in the comments.
The next-most viral Lucas performance on The Voice was his blind audition on Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets.” The judges loved his song choice, and his falsetto towards the end was just to die for. Lucas turned both John and Adam Levine’s chairs, and Levine praised his soulful and distinctive approach to the ‘70s classic. The audition also showed off Lucas’s huge range and his ability to make the use of that range so compelling.
John noted that Moses and Lucas’s knockout duel was “very close,” and said both performers were “phenomenal.” In the end, John chose to send Lucas through to the next round and sent Moses home. The Music Man has to say John was on the money here. Moses certainly gave a powerful performance, but Lucas just has that special something. Lucas is a genuine contender to win the entire season, and with the way he combines his voice and piano playing, he’s got tremendous potential as an artist.
