This is what happened when Tom Walker was given the opportunity to perform at Westminster Abbey for the Royal Christmas celebrations: Together At Christmas 2021. Many acts took part in this celebration of the most important time of the year, but one of the most notable performances was Tom Walker, who was accompanied by Catherine, the Princess of Wales. They came together to perform “For Those Who Can’t Be Here”, which you can view in the video below:

If this performance from Tom Walker and the Princess of Wales (at the time Duchess of Cambridge) could be summed up in a word, it would be ethereal. The combination of Walker’s soothing voice and the Duchess’ elegant piano playing, within an atmosphere laden with candlelight and acoustics aplenty, make it a perfect winter warmer that can’t help but entice a smile. Backing instrumentals and vocals only add to the atmosphere, and it simply stole the show for these 2021 Christmas celebrations.

The Royal Carols: Together at Christmas is an annual event to celebrate the Christmas period, and features a combination of speeches and performances from some of the most iconic British figures and acts of our current time. During the 2021 edition of this special occasion, Leona Lewis, Tom Walker, and Ellie Goulding were among the biggest performances, with the Westminster Abbey Choir also taking part.

In between the performances, there were speeches from both the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge, and inspirational videos which highlighted different works around the UK. Throughout the event, there was an air of appreciation towards those who worked endlessly during the COVID-19 pandemic to support communities and the country in general through hard times.

According to a press release for the event, it hoped to help “the nation to come together and reflect, to think not only of the extraordinary challenges that we have faced, but also to celebrate the acts of kindness that we have witnessed across our nation, the communities pulling together to protect and care for those in need, and those who have stepped up to help others.”
