When English rockstar Tom Fletcher sang at the BBC, he got upstaged by an unlikely newcomer – his own 11-year-old son Buzz! It’s clear that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree for the McFly frontman and his talented son, as Buzz has the sweetest and purest voice. He’s absolutely a star in the making, and hearing dad and son’s voices join together so beautifully on the charity performance had fans around the world melting.
The pair performed “Thread of Hope,” which is an anthem Tom wrote specifically for the BBC Children in Need charity effort. Tom’s tenor combined so perfectly with Buzz’s honeyed high-range voice, showing off incredible chemistry between the pair. The way father and son look at each other as they sing the anthem of hope might just have your eyes misting up a little. The Music Man is sure hoping we hear more from Buzz – he might just be Britain’s next young rock star in the making!
Fans were stoked to see Tom and Buzz rock the BBC together, and added supportive comments on Tom’s Instagram such as “Completely welled up. Absolutely amazing song and to see you both perform together was so very special. You’re a little star, Buzz” and “The way you guys harmonised and the lyrics, and you and Buzz on stage together? Goosebumps.”
Buzz has a talent for going viral, as he’s been doing it since he was a baby! In a 1.8 million view video from when Buzz was learning to talk, Tom and Buzz drop a duet singing along to Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” In the video, Tom sings the main hook and leaves pauses for Buzz, who apparently just learned the word “baby,” to fill in the gaps, which he does in the cutest way.
Buzz Michelangelo Fletcher was born on March 13, 2014, to Tom and his actress wife Giovanna. The couple, who married in 2012, must have a busy household, as Buzz has two younger brothers, Buddy and Max, who were born in 2016 and 2018, respectively. Buzz has appeared in a number of viral videos, including the most popular video on Tom’s channel. In the 33 million upload, Buzz, as a baby, sees a dandelion for the first time and adorably reacts to Tom blowing it into the wind. The Music Man readers might be interested to hear that Buzz has also dipped his toes into musicals by starring as the character Control in the hit musical Starlight Express. Buzz performed the role at the Wembley Park Theater production for eight months, starting in January 2025.
