If you want to be amused, charmed and impressed all at once, check out the Filipino boy band “TNT Boys” performing a rendition The Three Tenors.
Even though Italian is not these young boys language, they were able to impersonate the well known tenors pretty impressively. They came on to the stage, dressed as The Three Tenors, and absolutely nailed the performance.
The performance was part of a Filipino tv show called Your Voice Sounds Familiar Kids. In the original show, Your Voice Sounds Familiar, celebrities dressed up and impersonated famous singers, which were chosen for them at random. The show was created in Spain, but a version has now been broadcast in more than 47 countries.
The kids version only appears to have been aired in the Philippines. Although we have seen some fantastic young Filipino singers come into the limelight over recent years, the TNT Boys are not particularly famous outside the Philippines. This video shows how talented they are; no wonder they won the competition.
Strangely, the three boys only became a band because they had entered another competition. The boys are named Keifer Sanchez, Mackie Empuerto, and Francis Concepcion. They came second, third and fifth respectively. After Your Voice Sounds Familiar, they appeared on Filipino comedian Vice Ganda's shows. They performed a battle of Beyoncé's Listen, which went viral on YouTube. Vice Ganda helped found the TNT Boys as soon as the show ended.
In 2018 the boys appeared on the US tv show Little Big Shots. They performed Listen again, and in no time at all, it swept the world. Ellen de Generes tweeted Beyoncé herself to recommend she watch the boys' rendition. Queen guitarist Brian May also shared the clip on his Facebook page.
Just a month later, the TNT Boys entered the Your Voice Sounds Familiar Kids competition. They appeared as the BeeGees in the first week, and the band saw it and got in touch. They tweeted ]"Imitation truly is the sincerest form of flattery! Thank you #TNTBoys @YourFacePH for your rendition of "Too Much Heaven". #MyBeeGees."
The BeeGees were one of the most successful and famous bands of the 70s and 80s, and so the fact that they loved it is a massive achievement. We should also remember that English is not their first language, and the boys were only 12, 13 and 14 at the time. They also managed to look eerily similar to the BeeGees did in their heyday, which just adds to the charm of the performance.
Since the video of Too Much Heaven was uploaded, it has been viewed more than 4 million times. Everyone seems to love it and are impressed by the boys' abilities: "I want to cry, they bring back sweet memories of my growing up years listening to the Bee Gees. Well done TNT boys !!!"
