Tiffany Poon A New Generation Classical Pianist From Hong Kong

Tiffany Poon calls herself “a classical pianist of the new generation.” This billing speaks to her impressive presence on social media. She has more than 24 million views on YouTube with nearly 280K subscribers. She also has 87K followers on Instagram and 33K followers on Facebook.

Poon, an immensely talented pianist, has performed with orchestras around the world. Born in Hong Kong, she was accepted into the pre-college program of The Juilliard School at the age of 8. She graduated as a John Jay Scholar with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Columbia University. In the video below, Poon shows stunning artistry with Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 4. It is easy to see why the video garnered roughly 870K views and 21K likes.

Poon sees a great opportunity in connecting to her audience by way of her social media platforms. Her mission is to change the perception of classical music and musicians such as herself.

“There seems to be a disconnect between classical music and the real world,” Poon says. “With YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc, I can bridge that mysterious gap between classical music and the modern audience.”

This year Poon founded Together With Classical, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting a global community celebrating a love of classical music. The organization can be found under Instagram handle @togetherwithclassical. Poon recently performed a live stream concert celebrating Mozart with Eric Jacobsen and Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra.
