Viral Internet Musician The Kiffness Releases Heartwarming Collab With Young Singer

The Kiffness is David Scott, a South African multi-instrumentalist who is perhaps best known for his satirical songs about his country’s political issues. Alongside this, he also makes content that showcases his musical contributions to videos that have gone viral online. For instance, one of David’s most popular uploads shows him transforming a video of a cat making strange noises into an entire song, adding a beat, keyboards, trumpet, and even his own lyrics over the original video of the cat.

One of The Kiffness’ most recent videos, meanwhile, sees him do something similar with a video of young singer Rylyn Clark, who went viral during the COVID-19 pandemic when his adorable version of Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ did the rounds online. Where Rylyn’s original video features just his sweet, happy vocal, David’s version adds a wide range of instruments and, in doing so, turns it into a complete song, featuring a swinging rhythm, bass, keyboard, bells, and some gorgeous harmonies.

Aside from bringing Rylyn’s heartwarming original video back to our attention and showcasing what an inventive and versatile musician David actually is, this new version of ‘Three Little Birds’ also served another purpose. It has recently been reported that Rylyn (now 8 years old) is suffering from Lyme disease and will be in hospital for the foreseeable future, so David is donating all royalties received from the collaboration towards helping Rylyn get the care he urgently needs.

Music Man readers who are already aware of The Kiffness’ talents, meanwhile, may also be familiar with this video, which sees him turning a performance by a blind Turkish singer Bilal Göregen into a dancefloor-ready club classic. Bilal is performing a Finnish folk song titled ‘Ievan Polkka’, and the video starts off with just this footage. Then, having superimposed himself into the original video, David adds a solid club beat and even some energetic drops to give the song a more danceable vibe.

As many of The Kiffness’ fans have said in the past, his videos are arguably what the internet was made for, spreading happiness via music and good vibes via his support for beneficial causes. The fact he is using his palpable musical talent to support Rylyn Clark and his family while he is unwell, for instance, shows that he is not just a good musician, but also a warm-hearted person who is setting an example to his fans and others who watch his content.
