Eight months ago, seventeen-year-old singer Monroe went viral when she sang one of opera’s most impossible arias with Raphaël Froissart during a spontaneous busking set. But no one expected how explosive her career would soon become…
Monroe’s busking clip has already racked up 933,500 views to date, and Music Man readers can check it out in the viral video below.
As a stranger asks the pro buskers if they could play the infamously difficult aria, “Queen of the Night,” Monroe is spotted in the background, her jaw dropping with surprise as she hears them unleash the instrumental piece. But then, she decides to shock everyone.
Monroe stands from her seat and edges towards the piano-clarinet duo, stunning both instrumentalists as she breaks into a pitch-perfect song, her crystalline vocals soon stealing the show.
With bright tones and rich vibratos, Monroe reaches the aria’s glass-smashing high notes with ease, stunning passersby who look over with gobsmacked expressions. She’s a teenage vocal prodigy disguised as an average high street shopper and, once she reveals her hidden talent, listeners of all ages can’t believe the magic they’re witnessing.
But to those who have followed Monroe’s musical journey, her talent should come as no surprise. Monroe competed in the French TV talent show, “Prodigies” from late 2024 to early 2025, winning the entire eleventh season, a €10,000 scholarship, and a record deal with Warner Classics. Less than a year later, she released her debut eponymous album, which reached #1 on the FRA Classic charts and produced two singles.
However, the best was still to come. Just months after releasing her debut album, Monroe was selected to represent France in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry song “Regarde!” – a dramatic, quirky, and cinematic piece inspired by classical music which sent her soaring to 11th place in the 35-country competition. After watching her dazzle an entire continent on live TV, fans have been flocking back to this busking performance to spread their love for Monroe.
One top commenter shared, “Her facial expressions and body language are so key to her performance, it just elevates it so much. Like she’s so connected to the music.”
Another fan commented, “This young lady has completely blown me away. I have shivers up and down my back, and my ears are ringing. For someone so young to be able to sing this most difficult of all arias, is mind-blowing. She makes it sound so easy, which in my book makes her a maestro. She can also put so much expression into her various body movements. Truly, truly remarkable young lady.”
