Imagine having Taylor Swift sing her hits for you in a solo acoustic concert in her family’s living room. That’s the concert of a lifetime that about a dozen lucky Swifties got when Tay Tay performed her hits off her then-forthcoming Red album in her most intimate performance. Sitting just feet away from her fans, Taylor sang “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Treacherous,” and “22.” It’s pretty hard to imagine many other singers at her level doing this kind of concert for her fans.
The Music Man has to say that Taylor’s solo acoustic performances are always her greatest moments. Seeing her perform her songs totally unfiltered, with no production, in a single live take for her fans just shows that she’s undeniably the real deal as a singer and musician. The performance was also notable for when, at the start, Taylor shared an insight into her messy and public breakup with an ex that inspired “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
Taylor Swift uploaded her live cut of the trio of Red songs to her YouTube channel, where it drew 11 million views. Fans loved the unique performance and added comments such as “Those fans are the luckiest people in the world for sitting very close to Taylor Swift while watching and listening to her singing” and “To any of the folks that say she can’t really sing… Here’s proof that she can! Good job!”
Taylor has no shortage of epic acoustic performances. One of our favs came when she teamed up with Ed Sheeran to perform their collaborative song “Everything Has Changed.” Tay Tay and Ed really make the perfect duo. Ed’s total command of his guitar, her X-factor as the frontwoman, and those harmonies – perfection!
Taylor performed the Red acoustic promo concert at the Northumberland Estate in Forest Hills, Tennessee. Taylor bought the four-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot mansion for her parents, Andrea and Scott, in 2011. It’s pretty wild to think that Taylor trusted her fans enough to invite them into her family’s home like that. She certainly has a special connection with Swifties. The Music Man readers may recall that Red marked a turning point in Taylor’s career. It marked the final chapter of her country era and the beginnings of her transition into a pop star. This transition was completed in full with her move into a full pop production with her following album, 1989.
