The Voice USA has a brand new winner, and their winning performance of “A Million Dreams” is currently making the rounds online, amassing over 4.3 million views in just four weeks.

Sofronio Vasquez made TV talent show history in December when he was crowned the first Asian male winner of The Voice USA. Watching this clip back, it’s no wonder Sofronio stole the hearts of so many voters with his astounding vocals!

Back in the blind audition stage, Sofronio made himself an instant icon by convincing all four judges to turn their chairs in rapid-fire, before he’d even reached the third line of his song. Voice USA judge Snoop Dogg hit the button within seconds, spellbound by the first hint of Sofronio’s soulful voice, before Michael Buble, Reba McEntire, and Gwen Stefani followed in quick succession; one of the fastest, four out of four chair turns ever seen on the show!

This wasn’t the first time Sofronio competed for the crown, however. In 2017, he entered the Philippines’ own competition show, “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” singing hits by Adele, Ed Sheeran, Stevie Wonder, George Michael, and more, before landing in seventh place. He joined the show again for the 2019 All Star series, finishing as third runner-up.

Sofronio has revealed that his musical roots stem back to his father, who taught him an undying love for singing. But rather than dive into the performing arts, Sofronio instead followed in his father’s footsteps to become a dental hygienist. After his father died, however, Sofronio took singing in his stride, moving to New York to continue working in dentistry while making Voice USA history on the side!

As the season winner, Sofronio won $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal. Music Man readers can expect his debut album to hit record stores in the next year.
