This wasn’t just an America’s Got Talent audition, it was an experience! Performance group Lightwire made Brazil proud when they powered through their May 2025 AGT debut to score Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer. Lightwire’s performance began with a projection of leopards running in the rainforest, before they morphed into a quartet of dancers with light suits that made them appear as the great jungle cats. The brilliant act combined light, sound, and dance to create a mesmerizing performance that felt deeply spiritual.
The dancers and projections highlighted the landscape, plants, and animals of the Amazon Rainforest, imitating the movements of monkeys, snakes, and birds. This was complemented by a hypnotic musical arrangement influenced by the folk traditions of the region. The level of production and dedication that Lightwire brought to the table made their act simply magical, as Cowell would later describe it. The Music Man has to say that this is one completely unique performance that definitely deserved the golden buzzer.
Viewers at home tuned in 1.2 million times in the two weeks since Lightwire’s audition went live on YouTube on May 28, 2025. Viewers were just as impressed as the judges and added comments such as “I don’t even understand how they’re doing what they’re doing, but this is the best audition I’ve ever seen. They don’t need AGT. They need to be traveling the world doing this” and “Truly amazing. I finally agree with Simon on a golden buzzer. I hope people realize that they were speaking up for the Amazon Rainforest.”
Lightwire is a fairly new act, although in the past year they have uploaded several performances to YouTube. In their most popular upload on their own channel, Lightwire shows off their LED “pixelwear” suits in close-up shots during a performance. Seeing the troupe’s performance from a closer angle really highlights the dancers’ incredible artistry and how tightly they lock in with the light show.
After their America’s Got Talent audition, the crew of Lightwire hit the stage to a standing ovation from the judges and crowd, which made the team visibly emotional. Simon Cowell wasn’t shy about his feelings after seeing the audition, and he told Lightwire that “Honestly, this was one of the most beautiful, stunning acts I’ve ever seen across all of the Got Talents. I was so emotional.” Cowell then segued into hitting the golden buzzer, prompting a riotous celebration from Lightwire, which The Music Man has to say was a real feelgood moment. One of the Lightwire team members then said that they really wanted to emphasize the importance of conserving the Amazon Rainforest, due to its significance to not only Brazil but the world.
