When Brazilian dancer and aerial performer Danila Bim auditioned for America’s Got Talent in 2021, she pieced together a routine so dangerous that it left both the judges and her internet fans absolutely shell-shocked.

Stepping on stage for a quick pre-audition chat, Danila stuns in a black lace bodysuit and peculiar hairstyle featuring a large metal hoop locked into her tightly woven bun. After calling her mother her greatest inspiration, Danila hooks a long rope into her hair hoop as the judges watch on in suspense through the growing applause. But no one is prepared for what’s about to happen next.
A remix of Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” blasts from the monitors as Danila sits cross-legged on the stage floor, moving slowly to the beat in an ethereal dance intro. Suddenly, the rope launches Danila high into the air, supported only by the strength of her hair bun as she holds the Buddha pose and rises far above the judges and audience.
With the judges shading their eyes from the blinding stage lights, Danila unravels her pose and dives into an aerial performance serving elegance, drama, and utter mystery. By the end, Danila is swinging by her ponytail as if she’s on a swingset, and spinning like a music-box ballerina in a death-defying finale.
