Taylor Hawkins’ 16 Year Old Son Steals The Show Playing “My Hero” At Father’s Tribute Concert

Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighters drummer from 1997, died at the age of 50 in March 2022. Shane Hawkins, Taylors son, took to the stage alongside the Foo Fighters to perform “My Hero” during his father’s Tribute Concert on September 3rd, 2022. Before introducing the 16 year old drummer to the stage, Dave Grohl said, “Let me tell you, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone hit the drums as hard as this person”.

Grohl went on to explain that Shane is part of the Foo Fighters family as a picture of Shane and his father was displayed on the screen above the stage. Following in his fathers footsteps, Shane absolutely rocked the drums putting on an unforgettable performance – watch it below:

The concert took place on Saturday September 3rd, 2022, and included a 50 song set list spanning 6 hours! It began with Liam Gallagher playing oasis classics alongside Foo Fighters members, Chad Smith from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers shared a touching video and later on Dave Grohl’s teenage daughter, Violet, performed alongside her father.

The night went on to welcome even more super stars to pay their tributes to the late Taylor Hawkins including, Them Crooked Vultures, Supergrass, Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich, AC/DC‘s Brian Johnson, Mark Ronson, Queen’s Brian May, Roger Taylor, The Eagles‘ Joe Walsh, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, Paul McCartney, Travis Barker, Nandi Bushell, Rufus Taylor (son of Roger Taylor), Josh Freese and Devo. Some line up huh?

The show was a massive night filled with some of the most well known musicians from around the world. A second tribute show will take place at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum on September 27. Maybe Shane will make another appearance at the second concert? One thing is for certain, he has the skill to be on some of the largest stages rocking it with the best in the world.
