When Danish drumming act Safri Duo gave a live rendition of one of their most iconic tracks, ‘Played-A-Live’, earlier this year, the result was a performance that no one will be forgetting anytime soon. The duo brought some incredible energy to the stage and looked like they were having the time of their lives, drumming like there was no tomorrow and whipping their audience into a frenzy in the process.
But it wasn’t just Safri Duo keeping the audience entertained – much to the surprise and delight of everyone present, they also brought an entire group of marching drummers onstage with them, resulting in a truly unforgettable visual spectacle. The video of the performance has already been watched by over 9 million people, and when you see it for yourself, Music Man readers, you will surely realize why.
The performance came as part of a concert organised by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation called ‘Danmarks dronning – den største tak’ (or ‘Denmark’s Queen – the greatest thanks’ in English), which itself paid tribute to Queen Margrethe II following her announcement she would be abdicating from the Danish throne, after reigning for exactly 52 years. As further tribute, the corporation also organised a documentary to be made about the Queen’s relationship with her nine Prime Ministers.
