Royal Marines Band Set London Alight With Unexpected Dance Covers

When you think of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Band – if you are familiar with the name at all, that is, Music Man readers – the first type of music to come to mind is likely marching band songs or classical pieces. With this in mind, the band recently took the entire Royal Albert Hall by surprise when they decided to break out a medley of Ibiza dance and rave classics.

In a drastic departure from their usual material, and in a video that has racked up hundreds of thousands of views in a matter of weeks, the huge group of musicians took on songs from ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ to ‘Rhythm Is a Dancer’, leaving everyone in the audience in shock at how adeptly they were able to play these songs in their own style.

The YouTube comments section reflected the love that has been shown around the world for these covers too. “It’s crazy that everyone in the audience remains seated. Feels impossible not to jump up and dance with this playing,” said one viewer, while another praised one of the talented young corporals who sang with the group.

As existing fans will know, however, this is not the first time the Royal Marines Band have turned their hand to music that many might consider to be outside of their usual jurisdiction. The video below, for instance, shows them tackling the 1970s classic ‘Stairway to Heaven’ by Led Zeppelin and has gone viral online with over two million views on YouTube alone.

But whilst it’s this latter video that might have the most views out of the two we have shown you today, in my opinion, it’s the video of the band tackling a range of Ibiza dancefloor classics that really shows off their musical versatility. Hats off to all the musicians who took part in this excellent performance!

His Majesty’s Royal Marines Band proved they can transform Ibiza classics into something spectacular — their Royal Albert Hall medley is not to be missed. Want to discover more? Follow the links below this paragraph to watch the video and explore further performances and background on the band.
