Rosa, age 21, and Maryanne and Angelina, both aged 19, were going to sing an a cappella cover of Billy Joel’s ‘For The Longest Time’, and Music Man readers will be amazed at how they made the song their own.
One of the first things listeners noticed was how creatively they used their voices to craft a complex acapella arrangement. As one online listener commented, “A female trio doing a version of a song normally handled by a 4-5 member male group is quite a challenge,” but the sibling trio made it look like the easiest task in the world. The way they swayed along and danced to the music made it look as though they were singing karaoke rather than a complex acapella piece.
One of the most enjoyable parts of the video for me was not only how much fun the sisters were clearly having as they sang, but also how their connection to each other shone throughout. They were perfectly in sync as they sang and swayed along, but their emotional connection shone too. It warmed my heart whenever they would turn and smile at each other as they sang. To the undoubted disappointment of Music Man fans who would love to know what the sisters are up to now, the bad news is that the trio hasn’t posted a new cover in three years. However, the sisters clearly got stuck into their singing to pass the time during lockdown, meaning we have plenty of wonderful covers from that era to enjoy. The very last cover they posted on their channel was ‘Please Please Me’ by The Beatles, the perfect song to showcase their stunning harmonic abilities.
It’s always astonishing to see an a cappella trio sing so beautifully, especially with such creative arrangements. However, to see a group of siblings sing like this, with so much combined talent, is especially astonishing.
