Reneé Rapp and Jennifer Hudson got vocals for days singing this Destiny’s Child classic on J.Hud’s show

When Reneé Rapp and J.Hud bonded on the Jennifer Hudson Show about their love for Destiny’s Child, they just had to sing one of the iconic girl group’s hits together. The two stars were giggling like schoolgirls with anticipation of singing their favorite group’s song, and they certainly didn’t disappoint with their piano ballad duet on “Dangerously in Love.” J.Hud kicked off the song with a soulful and passionate verse, and her love for the classic really came through in every line.

Rapp then gave Hudson a run for her money with a gorgeous second verse that brought all the feels out. Hudson wasn’t about to be outdone on a Destiny’s Child number, though, and she really brought the big guns out for the powerhouse belting in the chorus. We’re always here for some classic Destiny’s Child hits here on The Music Man, and we’re glad to hear Rapp and J.Hud celebrating the legendary trio’s music.

The passion Rapp and J.Hud delivered throughout really made the duet a memorable one, and scored them a hit video that racked up 1.2 million views on the Jennifer Hudson Show YouTube channel. Fans really loved to hear the two stars sing together, and added comments such as “I didn’t know Renee could sing like this. Maybe she should branch out and do some R&B. Wow I just got chills with the harmonies” and “Renee Rapp has listened to A LOT of Beyoncé! She hit every nuance!”

Rapp has given a number of memorable live performances since she transitioned to releasing music as an original artist in late 2022. Her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on her song “Tummy Hurts” showcased Rapp delivering a delicious R&B flow and totally in her element on stage. The live cut featured a fiery guitar solo from British musician Towa Bird, who also opened for Rapp’s 2023 North American tour leg.

Destiny’s Child released “Dangerously in Love” on April 25, 2001, as the 11th track on their third studio album Survivor. Beyoncé wrote the song with longtime Destiny’s Child collaborator Errol McCalla Jr., and the pair also produced the tune together. The Music Man readers may recall that Beyoncé used the title Dangerously in Love again to name her debut studio album in 2003. She rearranged and re-recorded the song for the album and featured it as the 12th track.
