Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ Finds New Life in Harvard A Cappella Cover

When Radiohead released “Creep” as their debut single in 1992, it introduced the British band with a burst of distorted alternative rock before reaching a wider global audience on their 1993 album, “Pablo Honey.” Decades later, the song is circulating in a different musical setting. The Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones, a student a cappella group from Harvard University, recently revisited the track in their unmistakable vocal style.

According to the video description, Kevin Gu ’26 arranged the song and performs as one of three featured soloists alongside Will Jevon ’27 and Gabrielle Greene ’27. The trio drew enthusiastic comments from online listeners, who praised how their distinct voices worked together across the arrangement. One viewer wrote, “All 3 of their voices are perfect. They each bring something so special to this song.” Another fan praised a key emotional moment, noting, “The ‘she’s running out the door’ did not have to hit that hard.” Watch their rendition below:

The Veritones published the clip on September 3, 2026. By September 15, the performance had passed 1.1 million views and gathered about 32,000 likes. The surge unfolded in fewer than two weeks as listeners discovered the student rendition and shared their reactions.

Although the video appeared online in late 2026, it was not a newly staged performance. Group notes indicate that the footage came from their Spring 2024 Jam, making it an archival campus recording released roughly two and a half years later. The credits list CJ Nkenchor ’24 on vocal percussion and Brady Billingsley ’26 as music director. Arwen Zhang ’26 handled videography and Lana Schwartz ’27 completed the editing, with sound mixing by Ed Boyer and mastering by Bill Hare. Founded by undergraduates in 1985, the Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones are a contemporary co-ed a cappella group whose repertoire spans pop and R&B. Their Spring 2024 performance of “House of the Rising Sun” surpassed two million views according to their YouTube video view counter. The response to “Creep” continues the group’s history of bringing live campus performances to a broader audience.

Following an initially modest run, “Creep” became Radiohead’s international breakthrough upon its 1993 reissue, reaching No. 7 on the UK Singles Chart and later returning to the Official Charts over subsequent decades. More than thirty years after its original release, the song continues to appear across different genres. The Veritones’ cover passed one million views shortly after its release.
