Petar Markoski is a talented violinist from Ohrid in Macedonia. Petar has had multiple videos go viral on Facebook due to his fantastic musical abilities. His videos tend to be filmed in front of stunning scenery, which helps to set the scene for his wonderful music to take you on a relaxing journey.
The Music Man discussed with Petar his musical influences and got to understand more about this brilliant musician who is making a name for himself in the global music scene. Watch one of his fantastic performances below.
Hi Petar Markoski, can you tell us a little bit about your music and your background?
“The violin is the first instrument that I learned to play but at some point in my life, I was performing as a singer and guitar player. That was the moment when I first started recording covers as a singer, back in 2009.
There is no specific genre of music that I listen to, I am just enjoying good-quality music.
Mainly recording covers at the moment, but working hard on the original material which I am planning to publish soon.”
When talking about the video below, Petar Markoski said, “Over the years I was taking classes in video and audio production which helped a lot in making good quality content. My wife is the one who is recording the videos and I am the one doing the post-production, what can I say, we are a great team :)”.
Who are your main musical influences?
“My hometown Ohrid is a place of endless inspiration for me. A small but very beautiful historic town, known for having 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as the “Jerusalem of the Balkans”.
Andre Rieu is one of the artists that I love and admire, I am always watching his amazing concerts, and enjoy his music.”
Talking about the video below, Petar Markoski said, “One of the things that I enjoy is traveling. Rome is one of my favorite cities in the world, so where else to record such a beautiful song by Toto Cotugno if not Rome”
How did you get into music? Did anyone in your family play instruments?
“My family loves music, I grew up listening to different genres of music, we were singing songs from Julio Iglesias, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Traditional Macedonian songs, and many more, however, no one in the family is playing an instrument.”
Have you had any formal musical training?
“I started my musical education at the age of 7, playing Violin, at the Primary Music School in my hometown Ohrid.
During my musical education, I won several prizes as a solo, duo, and trio violin, which gave me the motivation to continue working.”
What are your most notable performances?
“As a musician over the years, I was a part of many Festivals, Shows, Competitions, Concerts, released several songs which were number-one hits on Radio and TV in Macedonia, and with over 2000 live performances.”
What was your most interesting or memorable moment as a musician?
“Working in the music industry got me into Video producing, which helped me a lot in completing my music with a nice video, and continue doing that for other artists and corporate videos.”
