When you hear the name Paris Hilton, “pop singer” isn’t exactly the first thought that comes to mind. But that didn’t stop the multi-millionaire businesswoman, reality star, and hotel heiress from joining pop superstars Miley Cyrus and Sia on stage for a live rendition of her all-but-forgotten 2006 debut single, “Stars Are Blind.”
Following her 18-year break from the music world, Paris was clearly nervous to hit the stage when she performed at Miley Cyrus’ 2022 New Year’s Eve party. But with a little help from her friends, Miley and Sia, the trio made it a night to remember, forming a one-off dream girl group in the process!
Music Man readers can watch their unexpected crossover performance unfold in the video above. And if, like us, you can’t remember Paris’ original single all too clearly, just check it out in our second clip below…
Miley Cyrus struts out on her NYE stage alone to serve the first verse of Paris’ hit, refreshed with a live band and brass section. With her bleach blonde hair and skimpy, summery dress, Miley almost appears like Paris’ younger sister as she taps straight into the song’s throwback mood, delivering its lyrics like a queen.
However, once Sia emerges in an iconically oversized and lavishly embroidered jacket, her face-covering hairdo topped with a boisterous bow, Miley is instantly outshone. Sia sings the second verse with soft vocals, tuned to her own trademark style.
But then, Paris Hilton, 41, surprises the entire room as she catwalks the stage, singing her third verse for the first time in over a decade. Compared to the pro musicians beside her, Paris’ body language tells of hidden nerves as she makes her grand return to the pop music scene, but with some sisterly encouragement from Miley, Paris absolutely slays her segments of the song.
All this might leave you wondering: why did Paris Hilton return to the stage for such an out-of-the-blue collab? Just the day before, Paris re-released her 2006 single, gifting fans an “updated” version which stole some inspo from Taylor Swift with its title, “Stars Are Blind (Paris’ Version).”
The entrepreneur wrote on Instagram, “This song has always meant so much to me, it felt right to close out 2022 with a refreshed version.”
This performance even inspired Paris to get back in the recording studio to track her long-awaited second album. With Sia’s encouragement and expertise, Paris released her second album, “Infinite Icon,” in 2024.
Paris Hilton’s surprise pop comeback showed she can still steal a spotlight — and that a little help from friends makes for unforgettable moments.
