As a Music Man reader, by now you have more than likely heard ‘WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!’, the single released by British singer RAYE towards the end of 2025. The tune has become hugely popular worldwide, lauded by critics and fans alike for its retro sound, complex melodies, fast-paced lyrics, and stunningly delivered vocals.
With this in mind, it’s hard to imagine US band Our Last Night’s alternative rock version of the song coming anywhere close to the original in terms of quality – at least, that’s what many listeners thought when they heard the concept. Once they pressed play on the cover, however, they found that Our Last Night’s version put a unique and instantly recognizable spin on the original, and actually sounded nothing less than incredible.
Racking up hundreds of thousands of views in a matter of weeks, the cover sees the band replacing the retro sound of the original with a distinctive hardcore rock sound. Complete with a heavy drum part, chugging guitars, and a vocal powerful enough to leave listeners reeling, fans have praised the cover for transforming RAYE’s hit into an unimaginably accomplished rock version.
Our Last Night are actually well known online for putting their own distinctive spin on rock tunes, and they have many covers on their YouTube channel which have racked up millions of views. Take the video below, for instance, which has racked up over 32 million views and sees the band covering Imagine Dragons’ iconic pop hit ‘Radioactive’.
My favourite cover that Our Last Night have uploaded to YouTube in recent weeks, however, has to be their take on RAYE’s ‘WHERE IS MY HUSBAND’ – and I’m sure there are many Music Man readers out there who will agree with me. The band’s cover is so different from the original, and yet it still works so well, retaining the core elements of the song that made it so loveable in the first place.
RAYE’s ‘WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!’ and Our Last Night’s explosive cover prove pop and rock can collide brilliantly. Both versions are essential listens—one for its immaculate pop craft, the other for its fierce reinvention. Want to explore further?
