Orla Joan Gartland is a singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland, who has made a name for herself posting cover songs and original music to her YouTube account. You know an artist’s original music is good when their most watched video is their own composition.
Born on February 3rd, 1995, Orla has grown a loyal following of fans for her music. Her cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere” caught the attention of millions of music lovers as she played a raw, cut back version in the woods. Her vocals carry this hard to sing song and her enjoyment shines through with every note she sings.
She labels her own music as “Folk Pop”, saying she is heavily influenced by Regina Spektor, Joni Mitchell and Imogen Heap. Her fun personality is also an asset to her growing brand as she describes herself as a “music makin’ ginger nutcase”.
Orla has charted in both the UK and US album charts with her EPs “Roots” and “Devil on My Shoulder”. She released a 3rd EP called “Lonely People” in 2015 and her 4th EP, “Why Am I Like This” in 2019. “Why am I Like This”, the single, is her most played video on YouTube with many fans listening after the single was featured on Heartstopper, a British coming-of-age romance series.
She then released a 5th EP called “Freckle Season” which was released in 2020. The EP features previous singles “Did It to Myself”, “Figure It Out”, and “Heavy”. Her most recent work is a full length debut album called “Woman on the Internet” which she is touring throughout 2022.
Orla’s talent is clear to see in all of her videos, note perfect with her vocals and above all else, her performances portray the undeniable passion she has for creating great music. She is a definite star in the making and a space to watch for sure.
