A fiery sing-off that has already been watched by nearly 50 million people has seen pop superstars Olly Murs and Conor Maynard do battle – with viewers deciding the winner! The pair take on iconic tracks of the 2000s and 2010s including Justin Timberlake’s ‘Cry Me a River’ and Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic,’ before a final showdown at the end where the pair give everything they’ve got to David Guetta and Justin Bieber’s ‘2U.’ It really is a musical battle of epic proportions!
From the very beginning of the sing-off, the competitive streak comes out in both singers, with the pair sharing some hilarious insults before doing battle. “I’m a bit disappointed if I’m honest,” quips Olly, “my manager told me it was me against Bieber,” before Conor retorts, “well that’s rich coming from the guy who stole my quiff back in 2012!” It’s Olly that has the final word, though, asking Conor to say hello to his mum for him and leaving viewers laughing their heads off in the process.
As for who won the sing-off…well, it’s hard to tell. Both Olly and Conor showcase the best parts of their voices (the former always sounding crystal clear and the latter having a gorgeous husky timbre to his vocals), and subsequently, it’s extremely difficult to determine a winner, even after reading the video’s comments. In fact, many fans claimed that it was impossible to decide who was better out of the two, with some declaring that in this instance both of them should be crowned the winner.
This isn’t the only sing-off Conor has been involved in that has proven to be highly competitive either. He has filmed plenty over the years, with artists including The Vamps and JoJo, but the most popular one to date saw him battling Pixie Lott with songs like Beyoncé’s ‘Drunk In Love’ and Sia’s ‘Chandelier’. Racking up over 240 million views, choosing the winner of the pair’s sing-off was also nigh-on impossible, although reading the comments it looks as though Pixie just took the lead.
As proved by both of the above videos, Conor Maynard’s sing-offs are always extremely enjoyable to watch, particularly the highly competitive sing-off he filmed with Olly Murs back in 2017. Whilst it is of course a joy to listen to the pair’s stunning voices, they manage to keep things on the lighthearted side too with plenty of witty banter to keep viewers entertained.
