Everybody knows the ‘90s and 2000s were the golden era of R&B and hip hop! The 2025 BET Awards celebrated the classic bangers from that time with a viral medley that featured a who’s who of the era, namely Mya, T.I., Ashanti, Bow Wow, Jim Jones, Amerie, B2K, and Keyshia Cole! Mya really stole the show with her cut of “Case of the Ex” at 9:20 during the 106 & Park reunion show. She delivered a powerful and sensual performance on the tale of a love triangle, and fans were living for the way she commanded the stage.
The 106 & Park reunion show kept the heat coming quick and fast, as T.I. hit the stage next to throw down on his breakout hit “Bring Em Out.” The Atlanta star really knows how to work a crowd, and the BET Awards always have the best crowd response out of any awards show hands down, so the hype energy in the room made the performance a whole lotta fun. The Music Man has to say these early 2000s hits never ever get old, and it was def time that we brought ‘em back!
The BET Awards 106 & Park reunion medley proved there’s still plenty of love for these old school hits, as it hit 3.5 million views within a week of being uploaded on June 10, 2025. Fans celebrated the timeless music by adding comments such as “This entire segment has me wondering how I went from 13-36 yrs old so fast. This was everything” and “It was Mya for me, she danced like tomorrow wasn’t guaranteed! Get it Sis!!!”
Old school fans were very well taken care of at the 2025 BET Awards. Snoop Dogg dropped a four million view performance on his iconic ‘90s West Coast anthems “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang” and “The Next Episode” at the show. The 53-year-old godfather of rap crushed it with his loose flow and slick mastery of the stage. Fans had to agree that the BET Awards really outdid themselves with the 2025 lineup, and many called for the show’s producer to get a raise for bringing the event back to its roots.
The 106 & Park reunion was a welcome nostalgia shot for fans at the 2025 BET Awards. The segment welcomed back performers who appeared on the long-running US R&B and hip hop show. The Music Man readers may recall that 106 & Park featured many classic performances, as it aired through the golden era for those styles during its run from 2000 to 2014.
